Barcodes

Linear bar coding has been used extensively since the early 1970s and is the best established and widely recognised AIDC technology. It is applied in retail, logistics, manufacturing, across healthcare, asset management, inventory control, document tracking, access control and in much more. Supported by a strong standards base and a wide range of reader (scanner) and printer systems, bar codes are a key technology for applications requiring low-cost simple ‘licence plate’ identification which gives linkage to information stored elsewhere, usually in databases.

Other features include:
  • fast, line-of-sight machine readability
  • reading distances from direct contact to several metres.
  • symbol creation by a variety of techniques.
  • several types of bar code available, offering different applications.
  • range of labels to suit a variety of applications and user environments
